Primitive
There was some intelligent, thoughtfully-produced, clever films made in 1912.....
....and then were films like this. Very primitive (note how the actor looks at the camera for a cheap laugh), but fairly amusing.
I don't believe though that it deserves the 3.4/10 rating it has on IMDb. It isn't that bad.
A comedy (though without much slapstick), not a classic, but if you have 6 minutes and have little to do, there are worse ways to spend those 6 minutes.
(this upload has OK though compressed picture quality, but no sound accompaniment. While watching it, I used iTunes to listen to Alec Templeton's version of "Stardust" followed by his version of "Body and Soul". The two pieces fit the movie quite well, and strangely seemed to match the action occasionally. You, of course, will probably pick your own choice of musical accompaniment. Have fun!)
So, not the best of 1912 (not even the best Biograph comedy of 1912), but not the worst either.
